Course Content

As therapists, sometimes we need something a little “extra” or unusual in our toolkits. We know the power of combining strong visual imagery, story and metaphor for clients who can be “stuck” with more cognitive approaches. In order to deepen this practice, this training will involve:

  • Jabberwocky: focusing on using creative imaginative imagery storytelling and self-expression to work with dysregulation and problematic memories. The movement aspect can be literal, or internal to sit within everyone’s sense of comfort and personal safety.
  • Innisfree: focusing on finding freedom through Visualisation – locating the places that the trauma has never touched and never will. Resourcing through imaginative scripting.
  • A Vagus Nerve Ear/Face/Neck Practice – great for quick grounding – and more immediately effective than any others tools I have come across so far.
  • Skills Share: Harnessing the wider expertise in the cohort to learn best practice in regulation practices that you find immediately accessible for clients or yourself.
  • Overtone Chanting: For those that wish, there will be an opportunity to learn or practice Overtone Chanting following the workshop. This is a fantastic practice for working with nervous system regulation and increasing vagal tone.

Regulation Toolkit: Extension handouts to the 60-page Regulation Toolkit from the 2025 event will be shared, so there will be some meaningful new tools for you to take away for yourself and your practice. (Including handouts on Consent, Rape Culture, Endings in Therapy, Models of Sex, Working without Explicit Memories and some more creative approaches to Managing Triggers.

Accommodation and Venue:

Otterton Village Hall , (EX9 7HB), is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has several places locally to stay. Ladram Bay Holiday Park let out static caravans relatively cheaply (about £260 for 3 nights for 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people and is within easy walking distance. Some people might want to make a weekend of it and come Friday to Sunday). The village pub The Kings Arms, Otterton is a very lovely place to stay too. Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton are nearby. If you wish to camp or park a campervan away from a campsite and near the cliff path, let us know and we can help you with locations.

The enquiry form can be found HERE.
